Welcome to The In-House Movement.

I'm a Farmer from the Welsh borders who has always been fascinated by watches, and how a bunch of springs and gears when cleverly put together can be so accurate, mesmerising and beautiful all at once.

Back in 2020 when Covid was just beginning, I was sitting on my Tractor listening to a Hodinkee podcast when a husband and wife from Austria were talking about their watch business. In that moment, something piqued my interest more than usual, so I wrote down the name of their watch company in the dust on my tractor's mudguard as a reminder to do some more digging into their watches.

Like most watch collectors, I enjoy going down rabbit holes and this was the start of a very long and enjoyable journey. I began researching and studying, and I liked what I saw. After a couple of months I ordered the watch I really loved and waited patiently for it to arrive. When it did, I jumped in the car and drove to Stewarts in Leicester and picked it up. I was smitten from the start and I still am. In fact, I'm wearing it right now as I type this.

Around this time I watched a fascinating hour long Horological Society of New York lecture on YouTube about this brand, and how to create a watch movement from scratch. During the lecture there was a table showing their company verses a much bigger brand, and the one thing that grabbed my attention was how small their marketing budget was by comparison.

Now for some reason I thought I should do something about this. And I have no idea why because I am a Farmer with zero, and I mean zero marketing skills. So, I sent them a message and heard… nothing! So I sent it again, and this time I got a reply, and after a bit of back and forth and them realising I wasn’t totally mad, they kindly gave me their blessing to set up an owners club in their name.

And here we are, almost three years later, and the husband and wife team from that Hodinkee podcast have now allowed me to become an Authorised Dealer in the UK and I could not be happier or prouder to be representing them.
I am sure you all know the Austrian watchmaking couple in question, it is of course Maria and a Richard Habring of Habring². And on Instagram you can find the club @Habring²OwnersClub which is the destination for all things Habring²  that spreads the love for the watches that are made with love.

Since becoming a Habring² dealer I have also become the sole Authorised Dealer for Benzinger Watches from Pforzheim in Germany. As you can see from their product page, they make beautiful hand guilloché watches using ancient hand powered rose engine machines. Jochen Benzinger is the best in the business when it comes to the fine art of guillochéing and skeletonization of dials and watch movements. In fact, for the last 30 years the iconic Fabergé have called upon his intricate skills to help engrave their world famous imperial eggs.

And there is a beautiful connection between the two watchmakers that I now represent, with Benzinger's GAP 1 and 2 utilising movements created by Habring². So in my humble opinion you are getting the highest quality of craftsmanship and horology, and therefore quite possibly one of the best value watches available on the market today.

When it comes to The In-House Movement, much like Habring² and Benzinger, I too stand for reliability and great customer service. That is why I will help guide you through your watch buying experience to ensure you get the watch you want. And (if you so choose) I will hand deliver your watch to you in mainland UK for no extra charge.
